The full name of the Tanzania COC certification is the Certificate of Conformity. Officially implemented by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), it falls under the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) control system.
In accordance with local import regulatory requirements, all controlled products exported to Tanzania must undergo and complete the certification process prior to shipment. This certificate is audited and issued by third-party authoritative inspection bodies officially authorized by the TBS; it serves as a mandatory compliance document essential for customs clearance procedures upon the cargo's arrival at Tanzanian ports.

Tanzania COC Certification Process
I. Document Preparation and Submission
To apply for Tanzania COC certification, you must first gather all relevant documents as required and submit them to an authorized certification body. Ensuring that these documents are authentic, complete, and standardized lays a solid foundation for the efficient progression of the subsequent audit and certification processes.
Packing List: This document must provide detailed information regarding the importer and exporter, including their contact details. It must clearly specify core information such as the HS Code, product name, brand, model, number of pieces, number of cartons, gross weight, net weight, and volume. Finally, it must be stamped and signed by the exporter to confirm that the listed information corresponds exactly with the actual cargo.
Commercial Invoice: This document must comprehensively include the importer's and exporter's information and contact details. It must cover basic product details—such as the HS Code, product name, brand, model, number of pieces, and number of cartons—while also clearly indicating transaction details, such as the unit price and total price. Like the packing list, it requires the exporter's stamp and signature for confirmation, serving as a crucial basis for both the commercial transaction and the certification audit.
Test Report: The test report must correspond precisely with the product name and model listed on the packing list, ensuring that the scope of testing aligns with the actual products being exported. If a pre-existing test report is not available, you may choose to provide product samples to the certification body for testing, or submit clear product photographs along with detailed product specifications for the body's review and assessment.
Application Form: You must strictly adhere to the certification body's requirements when completing the certification application form, ensuring that all fields are filled out completely and accurately. This prevents any omissions or errors that could lead to discrepancies and subsequently delay the audit process. II. Review and Inspection Arrangements
Once all documentation has been submitted, the certification body will conduct a rigorous review and verification of all submitted materials to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) and the relevant control regulations of the PVOC program. If the exported goods are second-hand items, an additional inspection and loading supervision service must be scheduled. Prior to the inspection, the exporter is required to properly produce and accurately affix product labels in accordance with relevant Tanzanian standards, ensuring that the label information is complete, legible, and compliant with local import regulatory requirements.
III. Certificate Issuance Process
Issuance of Draft Certificate: Once the products have successfully passed inspection and the documentation review has been cleared without objection, the exporter must submit the final packing list and commercial invoice. Based on this finally confirmed documentation, the certification body will issue a draft COC certificate.
Issuance of Official Certificate: The exporter is required to carefully review all details contained within the draft certificate (including product information, transaction details, etc.). Upon confirming that all information is accurate and providing feedback to that effect, the certification body will officially issue the final, official Tanzania COC certificate. At this stage, the entire COC certification process is complete, and the certificate is ready to be used for customs clearance of the goods.
